We help hospitals

Dutch Cybersecurity companies are joining forces to protect healthcare institutions, including NFIR.

Hospitals and other care institutions are essential in the control of the coronavirus. Unfortunately, there are criminals who take advantage of the uncertain and difficult times and attack healthcare institutions digitally. For this reason, NFIR joins forces with other cyber security companies on the initiative of Cyberveilig Nederland to protect healthcare institutions against cyber criminals during this corona situation.

Hospitals or other care institutions whose acute care is at stake can place a request for help on the website www.Wijhelpenziekenhuizen.nl. The coalition of cyber security companies then divides the work among themselves and comes up with a tailor-made approach to guarantee the passage of care. NFIR considers it important that care institutions do not lose time during this difficult period to the problems caused by cybercriminals, but that they can continue to provide good care.

Cyber attacks doubled

Cybercriminals exploit the coronavirus outbreak to infect healthcare devices with malicious software or lock up IT systems and demand ransom. According to Reuters news agency, the WHO, the World Health Organization, has more than doubled in cyber attacks. Cybercriminals from the Maze hacker group also broke into Hammersmith Medicines Research, a British company that tests vaccines against the coronavirus. The cybercriminals stole data and then demanded ransom.

Cyber-veilig Nederland

Cyberveilig Nederland, the interest group for the Dutch cyber security sector, wants to give this initiative a broad impact. “In these times as a cyber security sector, it is important that we join forces and help the care sector to guarantee the continuity of care. By intervening quickly in the event of security incidents, we are doing our bit to help manage the corona crisis”. According to Petra Oldengarm, director of Cyberveilig Nederland.

NFIR

NFIR provides 100 hours of advice and technical expertise to restore the entire IT environment of a healthcare institution in a short period of time, should an incident occur during the corona crisis. NFIR is a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), which means that we specialise in Incident Response. NFIR is available to our clients 24/7 to map out and resolve any security incident. The aim of the incident response team is to minimise the impact of the cyber incident as quickly as possible so that the continuity of your organisation is no longer at stake.

The NFIR team consists of digital forensic investigators, ethical hackers and team leads who all have experience with incident response. After notification of the security incident, a team is put together that expresses its opinion. The size of the team depends on the type of cyber incident. Of course, all members of the team will work forensically during this process.
